From 1 April 2024, the Shire of Chittering will transition into the Restricted Burning Time.
Given the persistent dry conditions, Permits to Burn will only be issued initially for primary producer requirements (agricultural/broadacre activities such as stubble burning).
Permits will not be issued for social occasions, garden refuse or for burning which can be reasonably deferred or avoided until fire weather conditions improve.
Our Fire Control Officers are volunteers, if you are refused a Permit because you do not meet the criteria, please be respectful.
The decision to not issue Permits for activities that are not agricultural has been made in the interest of safety of the Chittering community.
